Personal Description:

I am an artist living in south London. As an art student in college, I was primarily trained in drawing, painting, sculpture-making and documentary for approximately 3 years and then gradually shifted to working with digital media and trans-disciplinary practices including live performances, game-making as well as coding towards the end of my time as an art student.

Art as a complex, flexible and transformative system/tool has been a significant part of my life and I have been deeply benefiting from it. I would love to share with more people what I have discovered and cultivated through my journey of learning and practicing art, to develop together with my students new ways of perceiving, feeling and communicating in artistic making/unmaking.

Teaching Experience:

I worked as an art tutor in a freelance basis in a private art organisation in Beijing, teaching students aged between 17 and 21, on thinking about and developing their art projects in preparation for their application for art universities in the UK and US.
I led a workshop on Art and Play for children aged between 7 and 14, to introduce art as a tool of thinking and feeling through playful settings, with different materials and methods of making including making a puppet show with recycled socks, filming and editing tiny documentaries on smartphones, and collaborating on building a public architecture using recycled cardboards.

Teaching Approach:

My classes are normally designed in a few stages, with increasingly customised selection of materials and focus of interests based on the student's personal interests and strength. Therefore, I don't necessarily have a predetermined, fixed set of material or format of class. I prefer to develop my classes together with the student, in a conversational manner, to discover student's own artistic potentiality, through systematic trainings in mastering the particular methodologies and skills needed.
