Personal Description:

I am a professional artist based in London. My work has been supported by, amongst others, Arts Council England and the Pollock Krasner Foundation in New York. I have also participated in Artist Residencies where I have led drawing workshops including at the Heath Robinson Museum, the Islington Arts Factory and Victoria Park Hackney. I have also illustrated published Poetry Collections including 'Nowheres' with poet Tamar Yoseloff, with Neil Elder 'And The House Watches On' in 2020 and with Louise Warren 'Sometime in a Churchyard' about St Pancras Churchyard. I have exhibited my drawings and prints in public exhibitions throughout the U.K. including Dulwich Picture Gallery, Barbican Centre and the Jerwood Space as part of the Jerwood Drawing Prize

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching drawing for 10 years and have worked with a range of age groups including students studying for A level and Degree qualifications. I also teach adults wishing to develop their drawing techniques and skills from levels ranging from beginners to advanced.

Teaching Approach:

Drawing is a central part of my art practice. I am passionate about the visual arts and about the importance and function of drawing both as a form of visual research, for the development of ideas, and as an end in itself. I have developed techniques and understanding of drawing through the processes of drawing from observation.

I can offer students practice led drawing tuition. Teaching sessions will involve drawing from observation, taking into account considerations such as accuracy of observation, composition, range of mark making and surface textures.

Students will be encouraged to continually keep a sketchbook and each session will involve a critique of student progress. I am committed to ensuring my students improve their drawing skills under my tutelage since I am aware how such skills can be employed in many ways.

Whilst my core teaching approach is to develop a student's drawing techniques and skills, I tailor each lesson to suit the individual's specific requirements. Each student requires something different in order for them to achieve the best possible result that they can whilst developing their artwork. I guide and mentor to ensure that my students are working towards clear and achievable goals.
