I have been teacher for 7 years and was inspired to teach through my own experiences at school, in particular, by my English teachers. I felt they treated me as an individual, encouraging me to achieve my personal best. This is core to why I teach now, I want my students to feel the same passion and drive towards succeeding in school as I did.
After leaving school, I studied A levels in psychology, English Language and Literature as well as media studies, followed by a HND in journalism. After showing a capacity for sharing learning with other students one of my lecturers recommended I teach at a local school where my passion was ignited and on completing my course in journalism I attended evening classes and successfully achieved my diploma in teaching.
I have over 7 years of experience working with children of all needs. I am very patient and enjoy helping others to learn. My pupils have fun while they study and are always proud of their progress I try to encourage a genuine interest in any subject studied.
I have many years experience of highly successful teaching from key stage 3 to gcse level. With a well-known knowledge of all major Boards, I am able to help my students to maximise their potential using targeted revision and exam techniques. I am considered to be patient and adaptable and many of my students come to me by recommendation.
As a parent with busy schedules you don’t always have time to help your children with schoolwork. I have tried and tested many tuition centres; which unfortunately did not meet my personal high standards for my boys and decided to deliver one myself. My time in school, teacher training and raising my own children has developed my philosophy of valuing each child as an individual, as well as part of a vital part of a community.
