I am a mother of three school age children and live in Cobham, Surrey. Since 2016 I have taught part-time in a local infant school in Year 1. Prior to that, I taught for 8 years in Year 1 and Year 2 in a boy's prep school. I am also an experienced tutor and have worked with children from both the state and private sectors from Reception to Year 3.

I am available to tutor on Saturdays, some week days after school, as well as over the school holidays.

I am DBS checked.

Tutoring Experience

I am a qualified Primary School Teacher with sixteen years experience of teaching Year 1 and Year 2 at a boy's Prep school.

I am also an experienced tutor and have worked with children from both the state and independent sectors, aged 4-8. I have experience of helping children to get ready for 7+ exams, as well as overall confidence boosting and general consolidation in Maths and English.

Tutoring Approach

Initially I spend time talking with the parent about their child, their needs and what they expect to gain from the one-to-one sessions. In my first lesson, I always take the time to get to know the pupil and find out about their interests. I ensure that they are comfortable, confident and relaxed with me. Through assessing their work, learning style and general ability, I compile a tailored programme of study for them which is both flexible and easily adaptable depending on the outcome of each lesson. I use a range of teaching methods including games, activities on the computer and worksheets. I ensure that there is an open dialogue with the parent at all times. I find that my pupils enjoy their lessons with me, grow in confidence and above all, develop their knowledge and understanding. We also have fun along the way!
