Robert

As both a teacher and a parent I am fully aware of the requirments placed upon students in this ever more competitive world in which we live. For any number of reasons pupils may require that extra input that will allow them to fulfill their potential and which I feel my background in the chemical industry followed by my career in teaching allows me to offer them. I undertook the transition to teaching after 10 years in industry, where I was actively involved in training undergraduates, and have been teaching Chemistry at GCSE and A level for 12 years. I have now been offering private tuition for 5 years and it is a pleasure to help pupils fulfil their potential.

Tutoring Experience

As a teacher for 12 years I have taught both Chemistry as part of the Additional Science qualification (GCSE), Chemistry as a single science (GCSE) and at AS and A2 to both the AQA and OCR specifications. In my role as co-ordinator of GCSE coursework I have attended moderator courses and am fully familiar with the requirements of GCSE coursework. In addition I have been required to teach all the other sciences to GCSE.

Tutoring Approach

Each pupil is unique and it is essential to identify each pupils areas of strengths and those requiring improvement and identify how they learn most effectively, using this as a basis for tuition. Through tuition pupils quickly develop their understanding of the content but fail to fulfill their potential due to poor examination technique therefore this is something that is addressed early on during tuition. For those wishing to study chemistry at a higher level the tuition will encourage the pupil to develop their independent learning skills which is a necessary requirement for higher education.
