One day in July 2010, I received a phone call from an unknown number. Upon receiving it, I realised it was from a very successful chartered accountant. He told me how I had taught Maths to him in his secodary school and slowly made him love that subject. He gave the credit of him taking maths and becoming a chartered accountant to me. It was a moment of immense pleasure and contentment for me that made me realise my potential of being a very good Maths teacher. Hence I decided to pursue maths tutoring seriously along with being a TA in school. Even in school, I was given focus groups from every class especially for maths, rather than just confined to one year group.
I have been working as a TA for the past 7 years and I was always given focus groups from all KS2 classes for Maths and English. Maths being my forte, I could successfully inculcate the love for this subject in my students.
During my teaching career, I found that majority of the kids simply fear Maths, only because they do not understand the basic concepts. In my career, I have come across many such children who were petrified of numbers before the start of an academic year but by the end of the year, they used to specially ask for extra work in Maths every day since they had started to love this subject due to my teaching.
I am extremely passionate about Maths and love teaching this subject in a way that the students understand the basic concepts very well. It eventually becomes very easy for the students to solve any kind of problems on their own using the logic and understood method.
