As an experienced teacher and tutor, I would be delighted to support your child to achieve their goals. After studying 6 A Levels + an EPQ, I gained an undergraduate B.A. and postgraduate M.Phil degree from the University of Cambridge. I received a distinction for my PGCE teaching degree and achieved outstanding when gaining my Qualified Teacher Status. I have taught in outstanding schools (whose results place them in the top percentage nationally) as well as being a full-time homeschool tutor to two children, teaching them a range of GCSEs with excellent results. I have also been a Higher Education Leader specialising in supporting students to make competitive and successful applications to a range of Oxbridge degrees. I am currently Deputy Head of English.
I am a friendly, calm and passionate educator who has supported pupils in mainstream school environments and home-education. I have been teaching online since before the pandemic and have a developed a range of activities and pedagogical approaches to ensure pupils make excellent progress online. I have been a Designated Safeguarding Lead so I am always aware of different social, mental, developmental and emotional barriers to learning and am keen to support the students wellbeing and personal development alongside their academic skills.
My main subject is English from KS3-KS5 and Oxbridge preparation.
I have successfully taught pupils at KS3 and GCSE Biology, Physics, History, Physical Education and Religious Education. I have experience of GCSE examination preparation as well as IGCSE examinations. A recent tutee in English has improved from a grade 4 to a grade 9 during six months of online tutoring.
Whilst I have taught extensively at KS3 and GCSE, I also have significant experience with sixth form teaching and academic support, having being a sixth form teacher, personal tutor, head of year and Higher Education Leader over the years. I am well-equipped to support secondary pupils achieve their goals, whether in improving their grades on their examinations or through entrance examinations. In particular, I have vast experience in preparing pupils for UCAS applications and university interviews (including a history of successful Oxbridge and Medicine applications).
My approach is flexible. Ultimately, I love teaching and I love learning and I want to pass this onto my pupils. It is important to acknowledge what the student needs and how best to support them achieve their personal goals whilst also supporting them wellbeing and development as a learner.
