Hello,
I’m Lindsey and I am a qualified Secondary Science teacher with extensive teaching experience and additional qualifications in teaching pupils with special educational needs including dyslexia.
I have taught for over 15 years and take pride in ensuring my lessons are engaging and enable students to reach their full potential. As a tutor I enjoy seeing students grow in confidence and begin to enjoy learning things that they may previously have found difficult.
I am a qualified teacher with 15 years experience teaching in mainstream and special schools. I have taught extensively at Primary, Secondary and Post 16.
My subject specialism is Secondary Science however I also have experience in teaching maths and English to GCSE level. I currently teach at Key Stage 4 in a non-maintained school for pupils with ASC and communication difficulties.
I have specialist training in working with pupils with SEND and am currently in the final years of a Masters Degree in Advanced Educational Practices in SEND. This course has given me in depth knowledge of supporting children with SEND such as dyslexia, ASC and ADHD to progress in their learning. I am experienced in producing and implementing the use of schedules and visuals to support pupils with ASC and can offer this service to parents.
My approach to tutoring is to offer a bespoke service tailored specifically to the individual student. I am flexible and work to provide a service that is required for the individual this can range from academic lessons working towards qualifications and exam preparation, to supporting with an area that a student is specifically struggling with e.g social and life skills for students with SEN.
I listen to what the individuals needs are and ensure that sessions are tailored to meet them. My lessons are carefully planned and differentiated and through familiarity with the curriculum and many years of experience I am able to accurately assess and tailor my lessons to ensure progress. It is important to me that the learning happens in a positive and engaging way and both academic skills and confidence are developed.
