Music Tutoring in Folkestone

I am an experienced piano and voice teacher, and AgeUK singing group facilitator; accredited by Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, and a Musicology graduate of King's College, London.
I enjoy performing a wide range of music, in many languages, from the Renaissance to the present day, and have regularly sung with world-renowned conductors and orchestras in concert halls and cathedrals both in this country and across Europe. Recent solos include Howard Goodall's requiem Eternal Light, Vaughan Williams Serenade to Music (with London City Orchestra), Handel's opera Jephtha (Iphis) and Haydn's St Nicholas Mass.

As a choral singer I am a member of Canterbury-based Caritas Chamber Choir (under Benedict Preece), with whom I frequently sing at Canterbury Cathedral.

Tutoring Experience

I have over 20 years experience teaching piano, voice, and music theory from beginners to advanced.
I was a church music director and organist for several years and am happy to tutor singing groups.
For those interested in grade exams I am familiar with a number of exam boards including Trinity and ABRSM, and my pupils have a 100% pass rate with Merit or Distinction.
I am fully DBS checked and teach all ages from 7 up.

Tutoring Approach

I have a warm, friendly personality and a passion for teaching and am dedicated to inclusive community and lifelong learning. I welcome voice and piano pupils of all ages, from beginners to advanced, whether learning purely for fun or to take grade exams, both classical and modern. My wealth of experience and musical knowledge allow me to take a creative, flexible, and holistic approach - lessons incorporate many elements including voice care, posture, breathing and support, listening skills, warm-up exercises, musicianship, intonation, articulation, resonance, technical work, repertoire, sight reading, and performance. I invariably accompany my singing pupils on the piano.
