11 Plus in Essex
The majority of Selective Schools in Essex are united under the banner of the CSSE: the Consortium of Selective Schools in Essex, or simply, the Consortium. There are a few schools outside of this system, however: most notably the King John School, Benfleet and the Chelmsford County High School for Girls, the relevant application procedure for each can be found on their respective websites.

Admissions to Year 7 September 2016
- Application deadline: 7th September
- Test date: 21st September
- Papers: Verbal Reasoning (50 mins), English (40 mins), Maths (35 mins)
- Results posted: 15th October
- Pass Mark: varies by students' results
- Allocation Day: 3rd March 2014
