Personal Description:
My name is Miguel and I am a qualified native teacher of Spanish as a foreign language with several years of experience in different countries. I have recently moved to Exeter with the aim of keeping working in this area as a native-speaking Spanish teacher, after having travelled and learned about different cultures here in Britain and also Europe for the last few years.
Teaching Experience:
During 2014 and 2015 I have been working in Warsaw as a Spanish native teacher for the Instituto Español Sin Froteras, the biggest private Spanish language school in Poland, with groups of all levels, and also individual classes for children, professionals, and expats from various countries. Prior to that I’ve worked as Spanish private tutor in Granada, my home city in Spain, and also Edinburgh.
Teaching Approach:
My main goal is making the students talk and become able to communicate in a foreign language while discovering aspects about the culture and costumes behind it. Of course this does not exclude learning basic grammar skills which are essential in any learning process. Classes are also tailor-made depending on the student’s previous knowledge, if any, needs and preferences.

MiguelFrom Michael (5/5): Miguel is a fabulous teacher. The lessons I’ve had so far have been very fun and very engaging. Each week I find he boosts my motivation to learn. There is a clear and logical structure to the lessons and the learning plan overall. If you want to learn Spanish and in particular if you want to practice listening and speaking, I cannot recommend Miguel highly enough.
From Colin (/5): Exceptionally, exceptional. Thorough and organised. Language learning can suffer from a lack of direction and from stilted lesson plans. Miguel overcomes all of that and is excellent at integrating a process of learning into more regular conversation about relevant topics.
From Clyde (/5): I chose to learn Spanish as a hobby rather than a need and soon realised I would like more interaction than Duolingo or CD / book courses could offer. Miguel was my first choice as I was very keen to have a native speaker as an instructor. I have found his style friendly, encouraging and supporting especially when the subject matter can be a little more challenging. We started with face to face classes and with lockdown moved to an online Skype format. I will say that this has not affected my enjoyment or pace of learning and has allowed me to continue my lessons at a time when the distraction is very welcome. Muchas gracias Miguel

Miguel is extremely friendly and approachable, he makes the lessons so enjoyable that they often don't even feel like lessons and we find ourselves progressing naturally. We don't always find the time to practice between lessons as much as we'd like, but Miguel is very patient and encouraging, happy to go at our pace. From Nina (/5): Miguel is a great teacher, he adapts to the speed of which you feel more comfortable but is not afraid to push you to what you are capable to achieve. Thanks to him I can have a flowing confiscation with my spanish in-laws. I would highly recommend Miguel to anyone who wishes to expand their knowledge. He also makes a lovely cuppa tea!

He is always happy to explain anything I don't understand or just can't remember - which is often! :p. Every session builds on material covered in the previous session, helping you to broaden your knowledge bit by bit. He provides handouts to support the learning that takes place in the session and sets a manageable amount of homework each week. I would recommend him to anyone wanting to learn Spanish without hesitation :-)
