こんにちは、I am a native Japanese speaker and I've been living in England for about 6 years in total. I was born and grew up in Tokyo.
As a teacher I like to encourage students to enjoy the language they're learning and be interested in the country/culture, and also most importantly to get you speaking and reading and understanding Japanese as soon as possible.
Whether you learn Japanese for fun or travelling purpose, please feel free to contact me and let's enjoy learning the language! :)
I started teaching Japanese in 2015 and have taught various levels of students. Over the years, I have taught more than 50 students. I always try to focus on what students want or need and try to create extra exercises or go through extra practises during the lesson.
Apart from usual lessons through a textbook, I have also helped with university's assignment, prepare presentation or translation for advanced level student, prepare basic Japanese communication skills for travelling specifically.
Also I have taught English for 3 years to primary and secondary school students in Japan according to the national curriculum. And 1 year teaching English to Japanese nursery school children using home made games, cards and songs.
I offer a free trial lesson to make sure we both are happy with the arrangement before we start paid lessons.
Lesson structure would vary for each level. I'd like to focus on the request of learners adapting teaching style for every student's needs, anime/manga interpretation, or translation, or just day-to-day conversation practice in modern Tokyo.
I create a lesson note for each student that we share and maintain on Google Drive. I also use some news articles in simplified Japanese for reading practise.

I could recommend her to anybody if you're looking for a great tutor.
I'm looking forward to many more fun lessons. ありがとう! :)
I highly recommend her as a teacher.
I would highly recommend Ai as a tutor for students of all levels. She is patient, friendly and flexible towards how you approach learning Japanese!
I am very pleased with Ai and find her engaging, friendly and a great teacher.
I've left it a number of lessons before leaving a review and if it weren't for a lack of money I'd definitely be looking to do more lessons; which is a testament to my confidence in Ai and the tuition that I've had thus far!
I enjoy my lessons with Ai-Sensei not only because the teaching is fun but also because she is able to answer any questions regarding real world usage of phrases and terms, including answering questions about Japanese culture.
If you decide to learn Japanese with Ai-Sensei, you will not be disappointed!
I had a bit of experience previously with dealing with Japanese customers mainly via email, however I felt I needed a bit of a refresher with face to face communication to improve on my speaking and listening skills. I only had 3 or 4 sessions before my exam, but I felt they were very helpful indeed. I would definitely use her services again should I feel I need more practice in the future.
Always smiling :)
hmm ok then, firstly I don't usually give 5/5 or 10/10 etc. in general.
Anyways I'd say, probably, because our lessons are quite short it doesn't leave enough time to go over everything (although I may just be thinking that because of the textbook you use, showing "Lesson 1" etc.) making it seem like it would be more ideal to go over the entire section, therefore it feels like things are going quite slowly.
Saying that however as I am now the pace seems reasonable and of course getting the basics down and making sure a student knows them before moving onto more advanced vocabulary/reading/writing is perfectly logical.
Looking at the homework being set it feels alright for a simple review of the lesson, however at least for me I think a homework plan would make things go either quicker or more efficiently.
For example saying something like go over this vocabulary on this day, review this on this day, "you don't appear to be grasping this topic so you need to go over this a bit more" etc… things like that could make things go quicker, although at the same time may be too much or seem too strict a plan but should be geared towards the student.
Overall I'd say, an excellent tutor especially when you get the feeling of "hmm the lesson is over already" without feeling that you haven't accomplished(?) anything.
Although a slight despondence when the next lesson starts a feeling of "hmm I should have gone over that topic again" (probably meaning the student should try harder~)
As a tutor I don't think I could add anything to what every other review has already said about you, at least for now~
Early days, wrote most of this I think a week ago, posting when I'm sleepy and possibly too much blood lost from past weeks~
Being both a PhD student and part-time teacher at my university, I was concerned that studying a language would be challenging given my busy life and other commitments. However, I have since found that this is no problem as Ai works hard to set an appropriate amount of tasks to allow me to balance my PhD and study of Japanese. Ai is professional, friendly, and a joy to be taught by. I look forward to lots more lessons with her as I continue towards the JLPT N3!
She is helping me with all aspects of the Japanese language and her passion for the language is very engaging!
I really look forward to our lessons.
In my first lesson, I already learned how to introduce myself and basic greetings/goodbyes (after a little home study from myself as well).
I highly recommend her for learning Japanese and I am also looking forward to my future lessons.
I'm looking forward to the future lessons :)
Would highly recommend!
Ready to help and explain things to the best of her abilities.
I enjoyed the lessons and it has influenced me to continue on studying Japanese and learning as much as possible.
I believe Ai is an encouraging and respectful teacher and I would recommend her lessons to anyone interested in learning this beautiful language.
I look forward to the future lessons too!
I'm looking forward to our future lessons:)
At first I wanted to learn a few phases for my trip to Toyko. But since Learning with Ai i want to know everything about the language and culture.
Her style of teaching Japanese is Excellent in the space of 2.5 months, I can confidently read and write Hiragana and Katakana. I also can read and write a small amount of Kanji too. Now we are just getting to grip with Numbers and telling the time.
Ai is Funny, Easy going and Patient. She is very passionate about teaching and her students, There have even been times when she has changed her work pattern to fit around my lessons.
So my Advice is simple, if you want to learn Japanese language from an excellent teacher call Ai you will not regret it.
AI Thanks for everything and I will be see you again in January to continue my teaching.
With her guidance I can now confidently write and read Hiragana and Katakana, and am getting faster at it over time. We have also been looking at some Kanji, Grammar and vocabulary and I am excited about getting more proficient with everything.
I am really happy that I found and chose Ai to be my tutor and would encourage anyone looking to learn Japanese to have her as their tutor too!
