Personal Description:
I am a Cambridge University educated, fully-qualified teacher P.G.C.E QTS. As well as teaching part-time in school, I run my own Academic Tuition and Language Services Company. I am available to tutor in English, French, Spanish, Italian and EFL. I tutor all levels from KS2 and I am also an experienced 11 plus and Entrance Exams tutor. For independent school students I offer tuition in line with the ISEB curriculum. I also tutor at KS3, KS4 and KS5 and for all the main exam boards at G.C.S.E, I.G.C.S.E and A'Level. In addition, I tutor online and currently tutor students from all over the country, who have personally selected me from amongst the profiles on this site.
Teaching Experience:
I have many years of teaching experience, having started out as an EFL teacher before gaining my P.G.C.E. After graduating, I also spent time tutoring in London and often received requests to travel with international clients to continue tuition. I hold UK Qualified Teacher Status [QTS] and have taught Modern Foreign Languages at Secondary School. In addition, I have taught Adult Education Language Courses for East Riding Council.
I also run regular group courses in French, Spanish and Italian for Adult Learners. In addition, I run small Literacy support groups to help students improve their reading, grammar, spelling and punctuation. I also tutor student teachers for the QTS Literacy Skills Test and have achieved passes for students who had failed the test on previous attempts.I also continue to teach English as a Foreign Language and have taught students from all over the world from Russia to Japan.
Teaching Approach:
As a teacher my approach is patient and flexible. The learner is at the heart of what I do and my aim is for all students to make rapid progress but also to enjoy their learning. As a result I enjoy planning effective and engaging lessons which are tailor-made for my students. I strongly believe that one-to-one and small group tuition can deliver real results for all types of learners due to the focus on individual learning needs and styles.

From Jonathan (/5): We were looking for a tutor to support our 14 year old daughter (her school complete this exam a year early)on the run up to her taking her gcse English Literature. She lacked confidence and structure and was procrastinating when it came to revision. We booked ten sessions with Wendy which made all the difference. Our daughter gained a level 7 (2 marks off an 8) and we were were all extremely pleased. We will definitely use Wendy again for my daughter when she does her other subjects and my son in a couple of years. Wendy has a lovely approach and my daughter worked well with her, I would definitely recommend her.

From Samantha (/5): Wendy was very straight forward and efficient to deal with. She understood exactly what our very specific requirements were and acted on them immediately and accordingly with no wasted time. The lessons were expensive but because off the above I think they were worth every penny. She was also flexible to a point when we needed to miss/swap lessons which was very helpful at a busy time of year. The only reason I have not given a rating of 5 is because I never knew what happened in the lessons or whether my daughter improved as she has not had her results yet. My only tiny comment is that it would've been nice to get some feedback about how she was getting on in the lessons and with the homework that was set, and whether Wendy saw an improvement. It felt a little impersonal in this regard. generally excellent, thanks.

I did provide feedback to her each lesson but as you booked some exam booster sessions at a very busy time and also I didn't get the chance to see you at pick up/drop off times, I had hoped that she would pass this on to you.
