Personal Description:

I am an experienced Spanish tutor for beginners through to A’level. Working with students we’ve gained some huge success stories, both for academic and adult learners of the language. I have tutored GCSE students who’ve really disliked Spanish at the beginning and by the time they are taking exams, they’re considering studying at A’level or continued study in their personal time. Building confidence and pleasure with the language are critical to success for all language learners.
I started learning Spanish at secondary school and during the last 30 years have continued to build on my level of language expertise through studies with the Institute of Linguists, university and the Madrid Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to my First Class BA Hons degree in Spanish, I have more than two years' experience of the practical application of the Spanish language in Argentina, working for a public sector organisation as a consultant.

Teaching Experience:

I have an excellent understanding of the GCSE and A’level Spanish curriculum with all examination boards. Working with students, we've achieved some huge successes in building language understanding and most importantly, confidence, critical to achieving good grades.

Teaching Approach:

I have studied and gained language qualifications with a range of awarding organisations, and have a certificate in tutoring stage 3. I understand the various approaches to language learning.
I fully appreciate the different methods of teaching required and how they need to be tailored to the individual's learning style. I am able to adapt the tuition to the preferred learning styles in order to facilitate language learning and to successfully meet the objectives of the student. Regular reviews with the student (and parents) to discuss and agree the tutoring approach and progress being made are key to successful learning.

Stephie was very flexible in the way she worked, identifying the areas that my daughter needed to work on and then moving her diary around to suit availability.

From Michael (5/5): As a complete beginner with Spanish, I started with some on line courses, I found Stephie and in February started having weekly lessons, this has greatly improved my Spanish knowledge and understanding, Stephie constantly brings new elements into each lesson, and always coaches me on the correct pronunciation of words, regularly she recaps on previous learning, whilst I am not yet able to hold a full conversation, that day is not too far the future, Stephie builds your confidence, we do have a laugh in lessons, which I look forward immensely. I have no hesitation in recommending Stephie as a Spanish Tutor for all levels.

From Chloe (5/5): Stephie is punctual, kind and a experienced tutor. I wouldn’t hesitate to recomend her to anyone. She structures her lessons to meet her students individual needs. My daughter had no confidence with Spanish after struggling with her mock exam, Stephie has made her believe in herself and realise that she knows more than she thought she did. Which has changed her affinity for the subject for the better.
