Personal Description:

A French native in my late-40s, I have been living in Northern Ireland since 2001. Foreign languages have always been at the core of my interests and I speak 4 languages. I came here to follow my heart, when the love of my life decided to come home after some years spent in continental Europe. I know what it takes to acquire, not only a new language, but also a new culture and a new way of life, which puts me in a good position to help people do the same.

In 2006, looking to focus on the important things in life, I decided to leave my career in Sales to dedicate myself to children, students and learners. Since then I have been running French Clubs for young children and I have been a tutor for students and adults. I am ready to help anybody looking to improve their French.

Teaching Experience:

I am experienced in dealing with all kinds of public in a teacher/student format, having offered English and German tuition to French students and French tuition to students here. I was also a teacher during my national military service, teaching languages to adults and military personnel.

My current activity as a French Club animator has also given me a wonderful and valuable experience in dealing with our youngest learners. I also give French tuition to students of all levels and also give conversational sessions to couples and families who just want to speak French for the fun.

I have very high success and satisfaction rates, and I can supply plenty of references from past and current tutees on demand.

Teaching Approach:

I have often been praised for my patience and my teaching skills. I do my utmost to develop with each of my students, whether adults, teenagers or children, a honest and efficient relationship, finding the right balance between flexibility and accuracy, challenge and reward, effort and comfort, language and culture. I believe one can learn well in a friendly atmosphere, so long as work is done well and accuracy is maintained to high standards. Grammar and fluency in conversation are my two specialties, which I have used extensively to help many GCSE and A-level students locally: The GCSE students by repairing the damage often caused by them having struggled through years 1 to 3 in secondary school and as a result lacking the grammatical foundation necessary to feel comfortable enough in the language and to make good progress. The A-level students by providing them with a whole new spectrum of vocabulary and structures that enables them to improve noticeably their fluency and their ability to tackle debates and engage in high level conversations.

I am very proud of my mother tongue and I teach people to respect and love French as I do.

I am flexible as regards my working hours, but please note that, whilst my basic hourly fee is £30, some additional charges may apply:
+£5 travel charge for 5-10 miles.
+£10 for 10-15 miles.
+£15 for 15-20 miles… +£5 for sessions starting at or after 8.00pm
+£10 for weekend sessions.
