Personal Description:

Hi, my name is Sara. I am a native German speaker with 10 years of tutoring experience. I provide one-to-one and group German tuition for adults and children, for private individuals and for business.

I am based in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, where I help students prepare for GCSE and A-Level German examinations and assist students learn German for business, pleasure or relocation. I teach German at any level, from beginner level to advanced.

I am from Switzerland and have lived in the UK for 8 years. I graduated from University of Applied Sciences in Arts in Switzerland. I am dedicated, patient, reliable, enthusiastic and have a warm and friendly nature. In my free time, I enjoy playing the piano, doing Pilates, hiking and spending time with my family. I also love learning English and editing short films.

Teaching Experience:

I have successfully prepared various students for GCSE and A-Level language examination and taught complete beginners to help them to acquire the basics of the German language in a short time. I have achieved great results with my tutees and I am very much enthusiastic about helping each learner to achieve their maximum potential.

Teaching Approach:

My approach is very much learner orientated, focusing on the learner’s abilities and needs, using a wide range of activities including multimedia work. I offer individualised and structured lessons in a relaxed and friendly way where students feel comfortable to ask questions and challenge themselves. I always try to come up with new ideas, customised to the student's personality.

We can work together on all four skill areas - listening, speaking, reading and writing, whilst incorporating grammar and making learning an enjoyable experience. If you are looking to improve your German ahead of GCSE and A-Level exams, I can work with you to review the exam’s structure, content and refine strategies and timing.

I have taken the decision to support all my students with online lessons until further notice. The lessons take place on Zoom.

I still would like to resume my home tuition one day for those who are interested. If you would like to start with online lessons and move to face-to-face at a later point of time, I will be happy to do that.

From Angus (5/5): I had German lessons for 4 weeks with Sara. I was moving to Austria in the very short term, and she was very professionally able to teach me basic German very quickly. All the lessons felt well organised and practical. I woul dhighly recommend her to anyone learning German.

From Colin (5/5): I'm an academic in my sixties. I wanted to revive my German after decades of not using it after living in Germany and Austria, it had deteriorated to B2 minus I think. So I joined an online course during Covid and began more or less weekly sessions online with Sara. Sara had been more used to tutoring children in German but adapted quickly and accurately to me and our sessions were very productive. Her lessons have been a tremendous help to me, we typically would go through texts and exercises at B2 and C1, and had interesting and entertaining conversations about our interests and things going on in the world. I found that I looked forward to the lessons and prepared for them as we set out. Sara is always encouraging but importantly does correct my important mistakes. On a personal level Sara is very interesting, reliable, hard working and kind person. with a fine sense of humour I've taken a break from my German at the moment as I'm busy with other things but I look forward very much to restarting our lessons soon. I can recommend Sara to you wholeheartedly.

Sara helped my confidence in speaking and pronounciation and gave me plenty of work to build on my knowledge and skill. She is extremely well prepared for each lesson and prepares homework so I can continue to learn during the week.
I would happily recommend Sara as a tutor, whatever your age or skill level.
