Personal Description:

I am originally from Hungary but have been living in the UK for fifteen years. I work as a self-employed tutor and freelance translator so haven't lost touch with my native language at all and have a flexible schedule.

This space probably wouldn't be enough to tell you how much and why I love teaching. But just two out of the many lovely things that have recently happened to me were one of my learners asking me how to propose to his girlfriend in Hungarian and another learner commenting ' I'm learning Hungarian because it is the language of angels.' Who wouldn't love their job after this? (-:

Also, as Hungarian is such a difficult language to master I get tremendous satisfaction out of helping my clients' progress…

Teaching Experience:

I have a BSc in Economics from Budapest Business School, Hungary and attended City University’s ‘Translation Theory’ course in London.
In 2011 I was lucky enough to have been awarded an EU-grant which allowed me to travel to Munich, Germany, and attend a course on intercultural communication.
In 2012 – 2013 I attended a City&Guild’s teaching course and received a certificate in PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) course and deepened my understanding of the theoretical and practical framework of teaching in the lifelong learning sector.
Each year I attend a professional development course organised by the University of Pécs for teachers of Hungarian as a foreign language to stay abreast of the most modern language teaching methods.

Teaching Approach:

As a translator and a bilingual person I understand the logic of both English and Hungarian languages which is a great help when it comes to helping you understand the structure of the language.

I'm not one of those teachers who tells you 'Learning a foreign language is easy and you will speak fluently in 6 weeks' because it is not true. Hungarian is a complex language to learn but if you stick to it it will be very rewarding later and I will certainly provide you with the all the tools you need.

Each lesson with me normally has a part focusing on grammar, conversation and listening, but if you want to place emphasis on a particular thing that is also fine, of course. I believe lessons should be fun and should give you the opportunity to get to know Hungarian life and culture so although you will learn a lot, lessons will never be boring!
