Personal Description:

I am writing to express my interest in being a tutor for Spanish lessons since teaching Spanish as a foreign language has always been my age-long ambition, and this is an excellent opportunity to progress.

Thanks to the swift progress of my bachelor’s degree in English philology at Universidad de Murcia, it is glaring that working with languages, understanding and explaining them from different perspectives (grammar, literature, culture…) are endeavors I would like to engage in even more. After having finished my bachelor’s degree, I took a year off to live abroad, and I spent a year and a half in Glasgow working as a Spanish translator and assistant in a videogames company. After that experience, since my true passion is teaching and communicating, I pursued a Master´s degree in Language Teaching in Secondary Schools, which I completed by May 2020. During all these years, I have also carried out all kinds of jobs language-teaching related, including teaching Spanish and correcting texts written in Spanish, such as publications and dissertations.

For the last year, I have been working as an assistant teacher in a high school in Oldham, working with students of different ages, from Year 7 to A-Level students, so I have experience in teaching Spanish in a school.

I consider it a vibrant experience to meet students that are interested in the Spanish language, culture, and values, having an enriching experience both for the students and for myself. In addition, I work well with kids and teenagers and I enjoy working with them.

Considering my academic performance so far, my passion for teaching and languages, and my desire to enrich others´ knowledge in the Spanish language, I am convinced that I will be a valuable tutor.

Teaching Experience:

As mentioned, in Spain I spent few months in a high school in my trainee period. After that, I came to England a year ago and this is my second year working as a Spanish assistant teacher in a school in Oldham. My role there as an assistant teacher covers a wide range of tasks, from explaining exercises and grammar to working on pronunciation, writing, and speaking skills. I have also done private conversational lessons in Spain for foreigners who were struggling with their Spanish.

Since I only work part-time in my school, I want to get more hours of work by doing some private tutoring.

Teaching Approach:

My approach to teaching is always decided by my students' needs. I can apply a traditional approach based on a textbook (I can provide materials) or I can apply a more dynamic and interactive approach, based on developing communicative skills. I can adapt to any situation and I am used to both school students and older students (who might be looking for just conversation and speaking lessons).

Usually, I like to use a mixed approach, by using both a textbook and also other interactive and dynamic ways of teaching.
