Personal Description:

Hello, my name is Martin!
I am from Kaiserslautern, Germany though life brought be to Lincoln by now, where I study Sociology at Bishop Grosseteste University in light of becoming a certified teacher in the UK.
My hobbies include listening and making music, reading, sports and playing videogames with my friends from all over the world. Some of my time is spent organising events with larger groups of friends online or even with my students.

Teaching Experience:

UK students count to the most unhappy students in the world and there is a reason for it. School is often a stressful environment where children receive punishment for misbehaviour. Effectively, children are being taught that making mistakes is a bad thing to do though learning and motivational theories suggest that mistakes are one of the best ways to learn. Your personal life experience may relate to the latter.

With this knowledge, I have been tutoring succesfully, in an adaptive way, since 2018 with full intention to carry on doing so indefinitely. Tutoring is a full-time occupation for me though I am currently an undergraduate student of Sociology at Bishop Grossteste University as well. My intention is to build my portfolio while studying at university. A lot of students are with me for years and have passed GCSE/A-levels in Scottland and England with Grade B minimum (I am unable to give any guarantee for grades).

Teaching Approach:

Lessons are ordinarily run with focus on the students current needs, be it an exam preperation, learning the basics or extensive revision - students are encouraged to voice their wishes and thoughts. Several materials such as music, books, film, **Contact Detail Removed**vision and even videogames are tools that I happily use with which the younger generation seemingly connects a lot.
My philosophy of teaching is made up of the Scandinavian education system, neuroscience, psychology, philosophy and sociology.

I consider it part of my work to stay updated with the current curriculum in England, Scottland and Wales at all times. Text messages throughout the day,a discord server including my students, German memes and useful reads are all included in the price. From Tom (5/5): Martin is great! The lessons were easy to book and I found Martin very pro active, helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. I have never learnt via online before but the lessons are a pleasure, well worth £20! Martin asked what I wanted to learn and why and tailored the lessons to this. He is flexible in his approach, it’s going to be a challenge for me but Martin is very patient and humorous. Martin has been extremely helpful when it comes to giving answers to my own questions which has helped with my knowledge a great deal. I highly rate Martin!

From Nicolete (5/5): I’ve only had my intro lesson with Martin, but it was a complete pleasure. Fun, interesting, stimulating and informative. He took quite a bit of trouble to establish the connection - I’m not the most techy person! - and followed up the lesson with helpful hyperlinks that I have used and a really original and amusing item of homework which was absolutely perfectly pitched to slightly stretch but not demoralise. Clever after only one opportunity to assess me. I have previously be taught at the Goethe Institut in London, so am used to a very high teaching standard, but based on my first lesson only, Martin has made this a much more enjoyable method in learning this fabulous language. My only regret is that, by posting a stellar review, I may find Martin’s time with me becomes more limited as he is innovated with requests from those who read this feedback!

Martin is very approachable, honest and an all round nice guy.
Had my first lesson today and enjoyed it. He has a fun way of teaching and has some good techniques to help remember what we go through in the lesson. It is going to be a challenge but I think Martin has the patience to put up with me! Looking forward to my next lesson!
