Personal Description:
My name is潘剑宏 Jianhong. You can also call me John as anyone else in the UK does. I'm originally from a province near Shanghai, a city called 昆山Kunshan. I am currently working in a finance department for an energy comy in Nottingham. I moved to the UK in 2018 on a spouse visa. Back then I did not have any links, i.e. family, friends or colleagues in this country before I took my current full time job offer besides my partner. I appreciate the fact it did not take me long time to find my current full time job. I was very worried that my limited UK working experience would limit my choice of job hunting and becoming a tutor to teach my native language was always my backup plans. Having done my full time job for over a year now, reflecting back my initial plans as now, I think just like acquainting so many good friends through this job, I reckon coming to tutoring Mandarin Chinese which is my native language could avail myself more opportunities to make more friends who I believe I can talk about, teach and probogate the language, the culture I grew up with and am enthusiastic about.
Teaching Experience:
In terms of actual practical teaching experience, I have not obtained much in the UK.But I have been tutoring English as second language back where I am originally from.
My partner, Tim, has been the only source of my Mandarin Chinese tutoring experience but I am proud to say this only one has been truly triumphant, as we have been able to speak two languages seamlessly to each other at home. He is able to achieve a very high level within five years of hard work and I believe my help plays a very important role.
I myself have a B.A. in English literature and translation. Having been lived with a British for many years and working with British colleagues for over a year, I do believe I have a better command in understanding the way British people think than expat students who I believe is the major force behind this Mandarin Chinese tutoring market.
Some of you might be relocating to mainland China for work and would like to enhance a little bit of language and living skills in China, having lived and been in touch with people with both cultures, I have the confidence in helping you adjust and adapt.
Some of you might be interested in Chinese culture. I will also be the good choice for you as Tim has always said, you explain the cultural nuances in simple language or just in English very well.
Teaching Approach:
I am very flexible in terms of teaching approaches.
In terms of structural learning, I can prepare lessons if you have a preferable textbooks to follow. I can also recommend few books to follow on.
If you want to improve your language speaking skills, I can also infuse different varieties of speaking practise in our lessons.
