Personal Description:
I am a qualified French and Spanish teacher, experienced tutor, and examiner. I teach school and home-educated students, as well as university students and adults, both in person and online. As a native French speaker, I am bilingual in French and English, and I am also proficient in Spanish. Born and educated in France, I hold a master’s degree in English literature from Lyon University.
Teaching Experience:
I have more than twenty years experience teaching French and Spanish in state schools. As a Director of Learning for several years part of my role was to:
- lead in developing programmes of studies and schemes of work
- research/develop/adapt new material to suit learners of different levels and ability
- have an in-depth knowledge of all exam requirements and skills for GCSE and A Level
I have an absolute passion for teaching and am currently focused on exploring and developing further my in-person and online tutoring. I am fully up-to-date with all new examination requirements and techniques and can adapt to various examination boards.
Teaching Approach:
I use a wide variety of material and techniques to suit every learning style and provide a more tailored experience. Consequently, my students progress at a faster pace, and those who are preparing for exams achieve higher results.
At KS4, my tutees have consistently improved by 2 or 3 grades at GCSE and every year many achieve 8/9s at GCSE.
Recently, I have been particularly proud of a year 10 student with Autism who had got a grade 3 at his mock exams. This student passed his GCSE with a grade 7. In this case, parental support was crucial to his success.
At KS2 or primary school level, parents may choose a formal approach to help a young learner get ready for secondary school sometimes with a view to enable their child to take an early GCSE. Alternatively, you may be looking for a more casual introduction to a new language and culture, involving communication games. I can happily provide both.
At KS5, having a thorough knowledge of specific cultural topics covered at A'Level, I can help students fill the gaps and increase fluency. They then feel more confident and prepared for the challenging speaking part of the exam.
For casual adult learners, the lessons can be adapted to your requirements. My suggestion would be that at beginner’s level lessons would focus on developing the confidence to speak and communicate in a foreign language. On the other hand, more advanced learners, including university students and those preparing for Delf or Dalf (B1-C2 level) might enjoy debating current affair related topics of their choice.
Please note that my tutoring is not limited to one-to-one. You are welcome to get in touch as a pair or a small group for lessons in person or on-line.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to discuss your needs. I look forward to hearing from you.

Evelyne’s home is comfortable and warm and a great learning environment.
We feel lucky to have found an inspiring and kind teacher.
From the first and second lesson we knew we had found the right tutor and Anola is really happy and learning well on track for her GCSE. We both recommend Evelyne she is kind and patient and that is important in a good tutor.
Best regards
Simone
