Information About Carla - Sleaford teacher

Personal Description:

Hola! I am a native Spanish speaker from Peru. I moved to England 3 years ago, since then I have been working in a school in the Modern Foreign Languages department, and I quite enjoy my job and working with children and teenagers.

Teaching Experience:

I have been working in a school as a MFL Teaching Assistant since 2016. And since then, I give private tuition for GCSE and A-Level Spanish students too (in the afternoons after school). I had tutored 4 GCSE students (y10 and y11) so far who achieved Grade 7 and 8 in their GCSE this August 2018. Currently I teach one GCSE student and one Al-level student too.

Teaching Approach:

With GCSE students I start with a bit of phonetics to get the student used to the sound of Spanish. For grammar, I follow the AQA books online resources and use a grammar workbook to practice too. Besides, I like creating table games to practice verbs conjugations and lolly sticks for vocabulary we come across while doing exercises from the grammar workbook. During y11 I use fairytales in Spanish to help with reading and translation skills. And finally I am a specialist for the speaking exam as I am the one who help students with this matter, using photo cards ands role plays. For A-Level, I talk with the students about what they feel they need help with as well as a lot of grammar practise and discussions regarding the topics they have studied entirely in Spanish for their speaking exam or writing assessments.
