Personal Description:

Hola! I'm Annabel, and I'm private tutor in Spanish
Whilst studying Music and Drama at university, I took an elective module in level B1 Spanish (the third level in the Common Framework Reference of levels in a language) and achieved a 2:1. I found myself with the amazing opportunity to move to Spain, and I jumped at it, continuing to improve my language skills out there through lessons, intercambios and eventually joining a Spanish-speaking band out there, called Red Clyde and the Bonnies - a rockabilly band.
I lived in Spain for two years whilst I worked as a teacher there, and would love to pass on my love for the language and culture to students here. I have taught children as young as 3 Spanish, to retired adults.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified secondary Music and Drama teacher (QTS), with over five years experience of school teaching in different backgrounds. I moved back from Spain (Valencia) in August 2017 where I was teaching Music and Drama in a private British school to KS3, 4 and 5 and also tutored Spanish speakers in English. Therefore, I am a confident Spanish speaker, able to teach students up to and including GCSE standard, and would love to help guide those students who want a firmer command of the language, or are starting from the very beginning.

Teaching Approach:

I absolutely love teaching Spanish. I ensure that Spanish is taught through the the target language as much as possible, and ensure students are exposed to reading, writing, and speaking it, as well as formal and colloquial vocabulary. I usually begin with a conversation that it targeted at the learners' level, and I like to introduce a lot of vocabulary so that there is a lot to pick and choose from. I like to teach visually, as a lot of the time this makes connections between English and Spanish a lot easier for the learner.
