Personal Description:

I am a native speaker of Spanish with many years of experience in teaching the language to children, young people in their GCSE and A Level courses (I am an examiner for AQA and Edexel Exam Boards), and adults who want to learn Spanish for holidays or business. I have a very interactive and friendly approach to teaching. The structure of the courses is very clear from the beginning but, ultimately, the content and the pace of the lessons is always determined by the students. The emphasis is on having good fun while learning, and a lot of the material used in the lessons is original. As a native speaker, I always make sure that the learning experience also includes cultural aspects of the country. I am absolutely sure that you will enjoy the courses.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified teacher of Spanish. For the last 20 years, I have been Head of Spanish department and have taught the language at Secondary schools in Kent and Medway. I have also taught the language privately to adults wanting to learn or improve their command of the language for holiday or business purposes, and also to young people wanting to improve their chances of a good GCSE or A Level grade in Spanish. As an examiner for AQA and Edexel Exam Boards, I am very familiar with the course contents.

Teaching Approach:

The lessons that I teach are always interactive and practical. Students dictate both the content and the pace of the lessons and the aim is always to make the learning experience enjoyable. For example, if you are an adult wanting to improve your Spanish for holidays, we would reproduce in the lessons the situations that you would normally find yourself in while on holiday in Spain or any other Spanish-speaking country: greeting people, ordering food and drink, finding your way around, buying things, travelling around, asking for help, socialising, etc… As a native speaker, I always make sure that the learning experience also includes cultural aspects of the country

He makes lessons fun and adapts them to the learner’s areas of weakness. His experience as an examiner is particularly useful. Angel has ensured that my son has been well prepared for the exams.

He helped me with a crash course before going to South America, and I found him a very good tutor, easy to learn from, and very adaptable to what I needed. It also helped to be able to practice with a natural Spanish speaker. And also a really nice guy. I can't recommend him more highly

From Jane (5/5): Angel has very bravely taken on a group of "older" students at our Centre and we are amazed at the speed that we are all learning Spanish due to his gentle, kind approach to teaching us. We all look forwards to our lessons which are fun but thorough. I even find myself counting my steps in Spanish while out for a walk or in the gym doing boring repetitions.
