Personal Description:

Wendy has been working in the creative industries for over 25 years. She graduated with an MA in Photographic Arts from the London College of Communication in December 2008. She continues to develop her personal practice alongside her commercial photographic business and visual arts lecturing work. She produces personal video and photographic projects and commissions that have been published and exhibited nationally and internationally. In 2010 she also co-created a new organisation called Tri-Pod to help support photographic artists with their working process and the development of personal projects.

Teaching Experience:

Wendy currently teaches a photography & digital arts module on an Arts Foundation Course at Bellerby International College in Brighton, working with 17-21 year old international students, preparing them for BA Arts Degrees in the UK. She also teaches A Level Photography, 1-1 for a private tutorial college, Bartholomews in Brighton.

A Level Photography Students / Parents Comments - June 2012:
"I really don't think I would feel as happy with how it's all turned out if you hadn't been my teacher - you've been so encouraging ( even when I didn't know how to use my camera on manual), patient and inspiring… "

"Thank you so much for being a fantastic teacher! I'm incredibly glad that I had the opportunity to change from politics because doing photography has been a rewarding experience. You didn't let me leave anything unfinished as I have so frequently done in college, you have helped my confidence and I hope to approach everything I do with more positively from now on… "

"We are very grateful to you for all your support and encouragement and particularly for the way you really "got" our daughter and stayed alongside her. By the end, it was really wonderful to see her so motivated, self-directing, more confident… It was an important growing-up process for her and of course she will always have her pictures and the film and her writing and I know our family will always treasure the photo film piece she made about my Dad… "

Teaching Approach:

My approach to teaching is to firstly understand the needs of the student and the level of support that they need. I believe in a hands on approach - using lots of practical, visual material to help explain the various technicalities of photography and video as well as the theoretical aspects. It is also important to inspire and have fun and I see my role as helping to motivate the student through my own varied experience and interests.
