Information About Tristram - Cheltenham teacher - (4 reviews)
This is how 2 referees rated Tristram:
I am an experienced chess player, having been captain board 1 of the three counties chess team, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire, and selected for England U-16 as a junior. I have extensive experience of playing club chess in Division 1, Cheltenham, Edinburgh and Exeter, and my peak grade has been about 180 ECF, which I would estimate as my current strength.
I am new to teaching chess, but have been an active participant in chess lessons and teaching materials for many years, I have compiled my own teaching method on strategy in chess, based partly on aesthetic considerations, which I have formulated in a book. I used to have a chess link on my website **Web Address Removed** which was found to be useful.
I emphasise a thorough grounding in chess strategy based partly on aesthetic principles which I formulated and also on a close study of grandmaster games. I have found Suetin's book "Plan Like a Grandmaster" a particularly good teaching aid. I advise a close attention to opening theory based on a series of key sacrificial ideas and themes which can be found mainly in the Sicilian Defence and Ruy Lopez.

Unfortunately for Tristram, everything went wrong from the agreed time for a lesson right until my son't first lesson with Tristram. As my son told me that he would like to find another teacher - what i understood from my son's comments that the teaching style was not what he expected. No further comments.
I do not think this should reflect on Tristrum himself. I found Tristrum very efficient and helpful in making bookings
