Information About Semini Pabodha - Brighton teacher

Personal Description:

I am coming from the Architecture/ Uban design/ Interior design background pursued at the University of Moratuwa Sri Lanka and University of Brighton UK. My second MA in Architectural studies and Urban Design followed at the University of Brighton UK enabled
me to further explore other disciplines such as illustrations, creative writing using illustrative narratives which I used as a tool to produce an original poetic piece of practice-led research. I am also an international competition award winner who is currently engaged
in the production of an illustrative book.

Teaching Experience:

I am new to teaching. But when I was doing my MA at the University of Brighton which created a platform for me to experiment a disseminating technique through drawings, always considering the reader to be a child / adolescent / adult or an aged person with a sort of disability or not , I always kept the above mentioned people as my audience and I played the role of a teacher while producing / narrating illustrative narratives using drawings. I always ensured that my audience (reader) understood what I am trying to say, using drawings as a technique.

Teaching Approach:

First I will I dentify what sort of characteristics the student pocess looking at a few drawings/paintings/graphics which he/she has done. Then guide them to use what they see/hear/smell/taste/touch in the surrounding as a base to be creatively critiquing what they have experienced and then guide them to be imaginative.
I am not doing life drawing teaching but help the student to be more absorbent to the surrounding, be curious, be critiquing themselves and help them to be imaginative, independent, bold and develop identity /character for themselves.
