What teaching experience do you have?

I have taught in Further Education for 33 years on a variety of courses:
-A Level Art, GNVQ Art & Design and Adult Education classes (drawing, mixed media, printmaking) at Central Sussex College.
-BTEC Fashion/Textiles and Art Foundation at South Thames College.
-A Level Art, Craft and Design at St. Dominic’s Sixth Form College.
I have a track record of excellent results with students of a variety of abilities.
-Alongside my work in Further Education, I have taught private printmaking and textiles workshops for adults for the last 8 years.

I have experience of delivering AQA, Edexel, OCR, WJEC and Eduqas specifications.

I have combined my own artistic practice with teaching for 33 years, working in the fields of textiles, fashion, textile art, printmaking, digital art, mixed media and drawing. I exhibit my work nationwide and work to commission regularly.

Who are your lessons for?

My private lessons are always tailored to individual needs. I can offer inspiring and productive sessions that enhance student’s Art and Design studies at all levels (A Level, undergraduate and postgraduate), as well as individuals seeking to learn new techniques.

How do you teach?

My lessons are carefully planned and prepared for. I teach by showing examples of work, demonstrations, discussion, constructive criticism and individual action planning. I am able to offer a wealth of ideas on how students could develop their work. I am patient and have a wealth of ideas. I aim to ensure students are inspired, supported, individual needs are met and artistic potential is fulfilled. Teaching art is not only fun but also enriching for both students and myself. It helps them develop their artistic skills as well as personal expression. There is nothing more rewarding than inspiring students, seeing their work and ideas develop and helping them fulfill their creative potential. It’s like giving someone wings to fly with!

Where do you teach?

My lessons take place in person in my well-equipped studio in Kingston-upon-Thames where I have easels and other drawing equipment, printing presses, sewing machines, computers and an extensive collection of historical and contemporary art books.

When do you teach?

During term time lessons are available to book after 5.30pm on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and I also have some weekend availability. Please enquire if you are interested in weekend lessons. During school holidays, I am available any day of the week, daytime or evening by arrangement.

How much do you charge?

I charge a flat rate of £60 an hour.
