Information About Kelly - Hampton teacher

Personal Description:

I am from Twickenham, grew up and went to school and college around here, and then moved to Vancouver in Canada to study Creative Writing. While there I performed spoken word poetry and edited and wrote for the student paper.

Upon moving back to London, I studied BA Advertising at London College of Communication where I freelance wrote for the student magazine whilst also writing for various apps and publications based around the world.

Now that I have graduated with a First Class Honours degree, I am still freelance writing and looking to help students see the power in creative thought and expression through words.

I will be attending the Royal College of Art this September to study a Masters in Visual Communication: Experimental Communication; my skills range from words to graphics to storytelling and I can't wait to begin sharing them with students.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a football coach for the past two years and have also lectured at London College of Communication on various topics. I have delivered a TEDx talk on the importance of supporting girls in sport from a young age, and have also conducted various Education sessions in teamwork through Kick It Out Foundation. I am also a football coach for UAL's Women's Football team after being their captain last season and am currently completing my TEFL course.

While I have not directly had a teaching role, I have gained invaluable leadership skills that I have acquired through various disciplines.

Teaching Approach:

I listen and discuss where thoughts and ideas have come from. Creative thought comes impulsively as it cannot be taught. It's about how we harness these impulses into fruition rather than letting them disappear.

Everyone is capable of creative thought and writing, it just depends entirely on the environment in which they are in. I will create an environment that allows these ideas to flourish.
