Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified Speech and Drama Teacher, having gained my Licentiate with the London College of Music at Thames Valley University. As a youngster, I was a member of the Manchester Youth Theatre and have since undertaken professional acting training in Manchester. I have appeared in many productions over the years and on TV. This gives me an insight and understanding into the theatrical world, which I am able to share with my students.
Teaching Experience:
I am also a fully qualified Primary school Teacher and have been teaching for 25 years. I have tutored students for Speech and Drama exams in Chester. I have tutored adluts, who wish to improve their Speaking voice for business and those who wish to improve their accents and speak more clearly. I have also tutored people to help them with their pronunciation of words. I have taught Drama to a small class in a Private school and I have directed various productions, including one I wrote myself. I have also run an After School Drama club. I have also tutored youngsters who have a passion for Acting and Drama and wish to improve their skills.
Teaching Approach:
My real passion is for Drama and the theatre. My enthusiasm in communicating this passion is well suited to helping others realise their own potential and achieve success. Each lesson is planned to suit individual needs. The first lesson enables me to assess your requirements. After discussing your aims, I then plan a course of lessons and help you to achieve a high professional standard in Communication. I aim to develop your vocal skills so you can communicate more effectively, as well as give you confidence and the ability to speak articulately.
With Acting and Drama lessons I use various texts to work with and I chose texts suitable for the pupil. I help them identify the character's motives in the text and teach the student how to develop a character, making full use of the space and how to set the scene. I also teach improvisation; characterisation and the Vocal techniques needed to communicate effectively. I also able to tutor students for LLCM exams.
I also have an enhanced CRB.

From the initial meeting I could see that Toby and Janet would get along well - a very important part of helping Toby respect Janet and want to do his best.
Janet related well to Toby and each week asked about his activities and interests and listened.
Janet did well to help Toby improve confidence in his own ability which is one of the primary reasons for us contacting her.
The work Janet set Toby was progressive, achievable and suitably challenging.
She did not over phase him but at the same time ensured he was pushed to his potential.
Each week Janet had an incentive to reward Toby for good work and he loved getting his double award points and the ultimate reward of stroking the rabbit.
Overall Toby really enjoyed going to see Janet twice a week and on top of his school homework , keenly worked hard for Janet.
I would definitely seek Janet's help again if we need it!
