Information About James - Barnet teacher
This is how 2 referees rated James:
I am a young artist, born and educated in London, recently graduated, and I have been teaching art to children for seven years now. I am an oil painter, but have skills in other painting, drawing, film and sculpture. My lessons have always been original and imaginative, using diverse methods, materials and inspirations. The children I teach (and their parents) say that my lessons are particularly worthwhile for combining education with wit and fun, for presenting concepts in new ways, for focusing in on the individual needs and wishes of the child and for inspiring original work outside of the classroom. I believe my strengths to be my intelligence, my easy and patient nature and my refusal to talk down to any child.
-I have taught seven different families' children in their own homes over the last four years, all in art and a little history of art
-From 2007-2011 I taught classes of children aged 5-12, also in art
-I have also volunteered as a classroom assistant in a primary school for one year
I am highly creative in my day to day life and in my lessons, and flexible too about adapting lessons as I go. I plan thoroughly, I am always aware of the lesson's objectives and the overarching framework of the syllabus or program. I make sure not to repeat lessons but to tailor them to each student, I give extra homework depending on the student's interests and I also relate the lesson to other subjects studied. I have a great deal of knowledge in the subjects I am teaching, and can impart it in a way which makes it feel less daunting without diluting its content.
