Personal Description:
I am Freelance Artist, Performer, and Workshop Facilitator with a multidisciplinary practice. I work with many different mediums including installation, sculpture, moving image, photography, performance, movement, writing, and drawing. I recently completed my postgraduate studies at The Glasgow School of Art with an MLitt in Fine Art Practice. I not interested in teaching to perfect art work but rather encourage students to always remain curious and questioning with different materials and mediums.I am patient, smiley, open, caring and non-judgmental.
Teaching Experience:
For about 3 years, I have tutored a range of students from ages 8 up to 18. I have focused on various aspects across the years such as structuring essays, exams, reading, vocabulary, coursework, and general mentoring. I can offer classes in various creative subjects. I have experience as a SEN teaching assistant and in tutoring students with learning difficulties or special educational needs. As such I am aware of the difficulties that some students or parents can face with the school learning structure; I aim to create a bridge between the expectations from the school and the student’s educational needs. I am familiar with a range of curriculums, different exam procedures, and varied approaches to learning. Throughout my tutoring career I have ensured that I maintain a gentle, dedicated, patient, adaptable, open, and upbeat approach.
Teaching Approach:
I understand that opting for tuition can be a step towards meeting your child’s educational needs. I hope that I can help to put a reliable structure in place so that it is easier for your child to learn and go through assessments. My approach is very directed towards building confidence and interest in the subject rather than directly aiming towards achieving high grades. I do, however, feel that the two go hand in hand. I also am aware that a curriculum is necessary to a student’s learning so will always ensure that I incorporate that within my teaching. I see 1 to 1 tutoring as a fairly mutual relationship; I want the student to feel that they can be honest with me and in turn I will also be honest where appropriate. As such, I will mainly maintain a dialogue with the student rather than the parent. I will check in with you from time to time to see how you feel things are going on your end, but I want to make sure that your child feels they can directly communicate any concerns or feelings. I want to create a learning environment that reduces any struggle, anxiety, or frustration so that your child can excel.
