Personal Description:

I am an experienced Art and Design technology teacher with a degree in textile design from Winchester School of Art. Creativity has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember and a focus of it for many years. As a practising teacher I bring a wide variety of knowledge, skills and expertise and am confident working with most materials from 2D media such as drawing and painting, through textiles, printmaking and mixed media to 3D work in Clay and other materials.
Teaching is no longer my main profession as I have my own business and work as a Fused Glass artist.

Teaching Experience:

I Qualified with a PGCE in Art & Design and have worked in several secondary schools and spent nearly a decade in a Preparatory school just outside Reading where we developed the significance of art within the school and achieved 'ARTSMARK' status. During school holidays I often run art workshops for children where each day we focus on a particular medium or process.
I have worked with tutoring children and young people up to GCSE level, to help them develop their own creativity and fill gaps in their knowledge.

Teaching Approach:

I feel that it is important to build a rapport with each learner in order for them to get the most out of each session and feel that they are able to work productively in a safe and comfortable environment. I like to work with each student to ascertain where their strengths and weaknesses lie so that we can work out which areas of the subject on which to focus.
