Personal Description:

I am a private chef who has catered for individuals around the world (Europe, Caribbean, The Americas, South East Asia) and for a range of events from small gatherings to large parties with 50+ guests. Generally, I aim to use local ingredients to create dishes based on an understanding of what flavours work well with each other and how varying cooking techniques can enhance and marry those flavours together. In this way, I combine a classical understanding of cooking with an experimental streak which has deepened my understanding of food. Through my travels and work I have learned a lot about different cuisines, and this has given me a confidence to cook in a wide range of styles. Teaching Experience:

As I have been employed professionally as a cook, I have not done any paid teaching in the past. However, over the years I have taught friends and family as well as some clients who took an interest - all of whom have said they got a lot out of it (references can be sent on request).

Teaching Approach:

I use recipes for inspiration rather than as a rule book and this is what I will aim to encourage in you. Getting the fundamentals in place will help inform and guide your creative side so, depending on your level and experience, we can work on the basics which will then allow you to experiment more confidently and successfully. If you're already relatively comfortable in the kitchen, we can work on deepening your understanding of food, cooking techniques and presentation so that you will be able to create your own recipes and know what each ingredient and technique is trying to achieve, whilst also presenting them beautifully.
All sessions are currently conducted online. The first session will be a free 'get to know you' session in which we will discuss where you're at and what your learning aims are.
