I am a London-born artist working in sculpture, installation, drawing, collage, painting and photography. I have an MA from Goldsmiths and graduated in sculpture at The University of Arts London, resulting in a diverse art education. I have a teaching qualification and love to encourage creative expression and experimentation.
I was an artist in residence at BLANK Studios in Brighton in 2016, working with other sculptors and exhibiting installation work.
I run Rhizo Creatives, a meetup group for artists, designers and creatives in Brighton and beyond.
I also work with interiors and Feng shui for wellbeing.
I have been a personal tutor for art and design, including preparation for exams and portfolio. I have extensive English teaching experience both in groups and 1:1 and presenting interactive art workshops in galleries.
I've also designed and led a series of workshops at the International Festival of Art and Design in Spain with participants of 16 - 19 year old international art and architecture students and I offered one to one tutorials.
As part of the Blank Sands exhibitions, we offered art workshops where participants could experiment with materials to create sculptural works in response to the exhibition and then exhibit.
When I started teaching, I immediately enjoyed helping students to improve their self-confidence and prospects. In addition, I have experience tutoring children with learning disabilities as well as assisting with vulnerable workshop participants.
I am actively involved in creative communities and set up a collective to provide support for creative freelancers and artists. Members comment that the group inspires and motivates them to initiate and progress with their creative projects and they enjoy the community support. Through this group, I have enhanced my skills in managing group dynamics and creating positive communications.
Art is a combination of personal expression with the technical skills to visualise your ideas.
It is experimentation and play, to externalise your unique way of seeing.
Developing in art requires practising skills but equally inspiration, enjoyment and building of confidence. Creativity is within everyone and we all have our unique ways of seeing and expressing the world. I encourage students to experiment, explore and re-invent so the student can find their own voice and visual languages.
I use a variety of medium and scales in paint, found materials, collage, drawing materials, clay, print, wood and anything else that you want to work with. I am experienced in figurative art, such as still life and life drawing and more abstract and contemporary art and design. My current practice focuses on the body relations with architecture.
Using a sketchbook or scrapbook is an essential element to developing an aesthetic language and gaining inspiration and I can help guide in assembling visual research, notes and drawings and developing portfolios for applications.
I can assist in guiding you to art opportunities, community support, funding and awards.
