Personal Description:

I am a London-born artist working in sculpture, drawing, collage, painting and photography. I have an MA in Contemporary Art Theory from Goldsmiths and graduated in Fine Art at The University of Arts London (Camberwell, 2004). My work and teaching is based on creative expression and experimentation. I have a particular interest in architecture and also work as a Feng Shui consultant.

Students can come to my art studio at home with access to art materials, art books and space to work inside or in the garden. I also offer sessions online via Zoom and can review written work by email and shared documents.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a personal tutor for art and design, including help with academic art writing and preparation for exams and portfolio for 12 years. I work both online and in person, from age 6 to PhD level and beyond. I have extensive teaching experience both in groups and 1:1 and presenting interactive art workshops, with a teaching qualification from Kensington and Chelsea College.

I've also designed and led workshops at the International Festival of Art and Design in Spain with participants of 16 - 19 year old international art and architecture students.

I was an artist in residence at BLANK Studios in Brighton in 2016, working with other sculptors and exhibiting installation work. As part of the exhibitions we offered art workshops where participants could experiment with materials to create sculptural works in response to the exhibition.

I have experience tutoring children with learning disabilities as well as assisting with vulnerable workshop participants.

I'm actively involved in creative communities and set up a collective to offer peer support for freelance artists. Members say that the support has inspired and motivated them to progress with their creative projects.

Teaching Approach:

My approach is playful and experimental, with fine art, based on the foundations of observational drawing extending to conceptual approaches. I teach from secondary school to Phd level with classes made to match each learner’s unique needs and the skills they wish to develop. This includes an understanding of learning with neurodivergence. I want students to feel excited and challenged by their artistic discovery and enjoy the process.

Creative expression and experimentation guide the process as we explore a range of methods, artists, materials, ideas and ways to create work on different scales.

Art is a way to explore and express your unique way of seeing the world, using technical skills to visualise your ideas. I encourage students to explore and re-invent so they can find their own voice and visual languages.

I use a variety of medium and scales in paint, found materials, collage, drawing materials, clay, print, wood and anything else that you want to work with. I am experienced in figurative art, such as still life and life drawing and more abstract and contemporary art and design. My current practice focuses on the body relations with architecture.

Sketchbook or scrapbooks are an essential tool to develop your aesthetic language and make connections. I can help assembling visual research, notes and drawings and developing portfolios for applications. I mentor students at all levels including PhD and dissertation writing and research.

I can also assist in guiding you towards art opportunities, community support, funding and awards.
