This is how 2 referees rated Andrew:
My name is Andrew and I am a Fine Artist based in Fleet Hampshire. I have been painting for 10 years and specialize in oil portrait painting. My work is hyper-realist and I specialize in portraiture. I also have been experimenting with many different techniques within my practice including sole abstract work.
I graduated in 2008 with a 1st class (hons) degree in Fine Art. I am interested in art, psychology, cooking and playing racket sports. My main passions lay within the fine arts and teaching drawing and painting. I am also interested in helping people with learning difficulties and using art in a therapeutic way to help people in need. Eventually I want to study MA Art psychotherapy and become an art therapist.
I have had good teaching experience in tutoring privately and art workshops within my spare time. I teach mature students who want to learn drawing/painting techniques then advance to different styles of art work. I currently teach at 'The Meath epilepsy centre in Godalming where I am an observational and technical instructor to people with learning difficulties and epilepsy. At the trust I design projects, maintain individual progress of my learners throughout the course and then giving feedback. My sessions are more one to one and I can teach techniques more intensely to classes of around 4 - 5 people.
I have very nearly completed my beginners teaching training in the PTLLS course. I will go on to teach further in colleges and workshops, then eventually study Masters level Art psychotherapy.
My approach to teaching is to ensure the learner is comfortable with the project at hand, and to start from the basics upwards no matter how advanced the student is previously. My aim is to teach basics of drawing i.e. drawing angles, proportions, perspectives, sketching techniques and so forth to the more advanced techniques of painting tone and lighting effects etc.
My sessions would run from basic drawing of portraiture/still life/landscapes and then will gradually go forward towards an end final piece. The pace and progression in which I teach would be set differently to diverse learners.
