Information About Alice - Thornton Heath teacher

Personal Description:

Hi, I'm Alice, and I'm a West End performer with 10 years of experience under my belt. My CV ranges from playing leading roles in West End musicals to acting in feature films, working collaboratively on new writing, and recording voiceovers. I trained at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts and have a wide knowledge of the audition process for both musical theatre colleges and professional acting work. This stands me in excellent stead to teach both acting and singing technique, recommend appropriate repertoire, and offer tips and tricks to beat the nerves!

Teaching Experience:

For two years I was the musical theatre teacher at PQA Bow, teaching ages 5 - 18. During my time there I taught acting, singing and dance classes, and also choreographed and mounted a musical which the pupils performed in a West End theatre. For this performance, every child in the class received a Distinction in their Trinity Stage 2 Performance in Musical Theatre exam. I have also taught many musical theatre workshops at dance schools across the country, assisted with devising workshops, and judged a talent show or three!!

Teaching Approach:

The most rewarding thing for me about teaching musical theatre is watching a child or young adult find their confidence, and discover how they can use their personalities and uniqueness to bring a character alive. I have a very positive attitude to life in general, and use that in my teaching to encourage and develop the talents and skills that the pupil has already, whilst also giving them the tools for technical prowess. The musical theatre industry is a tough one, but it is also unbelievably rewarding, and to be able to help pupils on their path towards in a career treading the boards is a real privilege.
