Personal Description:

My focus is helping people pass the CELPIP test. Many tutors include CELPIP preparation as part of their program, especially for new Canadians, but few focus on it exclusively. I recognize that there is a major need for help passing this particular test, and so I have devoted my time and energy to developing teaching strategies and techniques that will ensure that my students are able to get the grades they need on the CELPIP test. English grammar and style are something that can be difficult to master, especially with respect to a standardized test. The testers are always looking for something specific. My goal is to cut through the fluff and help students put exactly what the testers are looking for onto the test paper.

As a writer and academic, I am somebody who genuinely cares about teaching the English language. I have been studying the language for my entire life, and have been a writer for 10 years. I recently graduated from the University of Toronto with an honours degree in Political Science and History. Now, my focus is tutoring, with specific emphasis on CELPIP preparation.

I have been doing CELPIP preparation for 1 year. I have been privately tutoring for 5+ years.

Tutoring Approach:

I cater my teaching style to my students needs. I will focus on the areas of the CELPIP test that an individual needs to work on most, and will make sure to work with the student to ensure comprehension. In order to keep up to date with students, I take notes on what skills they already possess, and in what areas they need the most work, providing encouragement and guidance when necessary. Learning is about feeling comfortable and confident, so my goal is to make sure my students are truly ready for the test and until that point, my work is unfinished.
