Personal Description:

Hello! My name is Vivian and I am currently a fourth-year student of McMaster University's prestigious Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours) program. I am specializing in the Biomedical Sciences stream. I also have extensive biomedical research experience at Sickkids Hospital in Toronto. It is truly a fulfilling and eye-opening experience to be at the forefront of cutting edge biomedical research. I'm passionate about education and biological sciences, and I hope to pursue medical school next year. I am motivated to tutor because I want to share my love of science with students, especially those who are finding it hard and frustrating to learn these topics. I understand how much of a struggle it can be to learn science in a traditional classroom setting so I am here to help support your learning in a personalized and compassionate way. I will help alleviate your stress of that pesky science course and help you achieve the high grade you are aiming for!

I have always been strong academically and I have personally focused on the process of learning and understanding material as much as the final mark I can achieve in the end.

Tutoring Experience:

I have 7 years of experience tutoring high school students in the subjects of math, chemistry, physics, and biology. Currently, I volunteer at a local non-profit organization which supports Hamilton youth from historically disadvantaged neighbourhoods tutoring in all math and science subjects, as well as providing mentorship and advice on the transition from high school to post-secondary education.

I value compassion when tutoring. I will always get to know you as a student and as a person. I will listen to your concerns and questions first, before offering my advice. I will always personalize my lesson plans to suit your learning style, whether that is with pictures, diagrams, videos, audio, games, you name it! I have many, many study techniques and strategies that I can share to help improve your study habits. I am kind and genuinely excited about the sciences. I hope that by sharing with you how cool and relevant biomedical sciences are that you can get a grasp on the tricky topics that students often have trouble with, especially when classes in school are confusing.
