Personal Description:
My name is Tom and I am from London, England. I am in my fifth year of teaching. I am currently teaching a 3/4 combination grade at an IB Elementary school in the city of Edmonton, AB.
In my summers I like to hike in Canada, play soccer and travel to see family back in the UK!
I enjoy reading history books in the winter, and trying (failing mostly) to master the art of ice skating!
Tutoring Experience:
I have been working in education since I graduated from university in 2012. I studied History at the University of East Anglia (2009-2012) attaining a Bachelor in Arts.
-I worked as a teaching assistant to a grade 1 class in London, England for a year and a half.
-I completed my PGCE (Post-Graduate-Certificate of Education) at the University of Cambridge from 2014-15.
-I taught Grade 2 from 2015-16 at an elementary school in London.
-I moved to Canada July 2016
-I have since worked in grades 3 and 4 at an IB school.
-In December 2019 I completed my Masters in Education at the Open University, UK.
Tutoring Approach:
Holistic approach. Find out where the student is. I am very empathetic. I like to bring a sense of fun and humour to learning!
