Information About Taylor
Calgary tutorPersonal Description:
Hi! My name is Taylor and I recently graduated from the University of Toronto (with honors) with a specialist in International Development Studies and a minor in African Studies. In Fall 2020 I will be starting my 2 year after degree to earn my bachelors of education and earn my qualifications to be a teacher at Ambrose University in Calgary! Outside of school and academics I love to read, cook and hike.
Tutoring Experience:
I worked and lived in the Northwest Territories for 10 months during the 2018-2019 school year where I worked with high school students taking classes through distance learning. While working in the NWT I also taught, tutored and mentored students in all grades (junior kindergarten to grade 12) and all subjects.
I have over 8 years experience working with children and youth with various disabilities in and outside of school settings. These experience have allowed me to gain experience and skills in adapting all activities so everyone can participate in it while having fun and learning from it.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe in following the students lead and adapting lessons to fit their interests and needs as every student is unique and there is no one size fits all approach to success. I love to find creative ways to engage students in a way that they find fun and still educational (i.e. learning through games or crafts). I am passionate about teaching skills to my students that will help them succeed not in the current moment but also in future grades and life endeavours (i.e. test taking skills, organization, time management).
