Personal Description:

I have over 20 years of experience working with spreadsheets, in particular MS Excel, and building informational systems in accounting, operations, and customer service.

Tutoring Experience:

I was an adult education accounting instructor at the local YWCA School of Business. Students were taught how to use a PC based accounting application to perform whole cycle accounting for a small business.

Currently I teach Excel to adult students who wish to become proficient in the use of this software in a short time.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to make the subject matter real and relevant to the student so they are self motivated in learning. I do this by teaching, and then giving them exercises where they practice what was taught. I ask a lot of opened ended questions where the student has to think. Initially the process seems slow to the student but after a few lessons, the students start to see the relevance of the subject and the learning moves at a fast pace. The objective of tutoring Excel from my perspective is to make the student aware of the relevance of the subject studied and build confidence in the student where they can learn by themselves once they have completed their tutoring with me.
