Personal Description:

I am an Ontario certified educator with 9 years of tutoring experience. I have worked primarily with secondary and post-secondary students, helping many of them overcome the challenges of courses in Humanities and Social Sciences. In particular, I have worked with students struggling to maintain a high GPA, and those struggling with the transition between secondary to post-secondary institutions. My students stick with me for many years as they progress through their studies because they find me approachable, easy-going, and understanding towards their difficulties. I am always willing to work with them to determine the best possible option for their specific needs so that I can ensure that they are successful. My classes are always about setting a goal, and achieving it; no matter what it takes.

Tutoring Experience:

I have 2.5 years of full-time teaching experience at the elementary level. I also have 9 years of tutoring experience in which I primarily worked with secondary and post-secondary students. I have also worked in course development, creating Visual Arts and Media Studies courses for both elementary and secondary grades.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is quite simple; in my first session, I make sure that I understand what my student's objectives are and what they hope to achieve by the end of our classes. I also conduct an assessment to make sure that I know where I need to begin in terms of our lessons. After that, I ensure that I provide the student with the tools and resources they need to achieve their goals. If something is not working, it is not a problem for me; we can always try a different method. I am reflective, and I like to receive feedback from my students as well so that they are happy with the results. I also feel like character building is a large part of tutoring; I am always giving positive feedback, and motivating remarks so that I can build their confidence to know that nothing is impossible.
