Personal Description:

My name is Mary-Anne . I am currently a full time student entering into my third year of a Bachelors of Business Administration Program with Laurentian University. I also work as a lifeguard for the YMCA and I am a swim coach for the Upper Canada River Otters. I am in Brockville for the summer and am offering tutoring in the following subjects: Math, English, Business, Psychology, Study skills/essay writing, and French. I am someone who is very patient, outgoing, and dynamic when it comes to teaching.

Tutoring Experience:

I have two years of tutoring experience under my belt all of which were swimmers that I had coached/instructed in the past. I realized that I really enjoy doing it and I feel that I am good at finding unique ways for individuals to help comprehend, problem-solve, and learn concepts that may be difficult for them.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very dynamic when it comes to tutoring. I realize that not all individuals learn the same way so I will always try new methods to adapt to the individual to best help them learn and comprehend the material or subject at hand. I also make sure that the individual fully understands a concept before moving on to the next. Most tutoring sessions will involve a brief explanation and overview of the subject or task at hand, followed by some application/practice examples, problems, etc. At the end, we will do a small quiz and summary of what we have learned to tie everything together.
