I'm a graduate researcher in Physics and I've been tutoring for more than 10 years.

Tutoring Experience:

I've been tutoring struggling students for as long as I have been in school. My professional experience started by engaging in tutoring services at UW and my role as a teaching assistant for undergradua**Contact Detail Removed**vel courses and labs for more than 300 undergraduate students. Some of those classes take 4 hours straight. I tried my best to engage everyone in the class activities and to make them think about each problem/challenge. I did that because I believe active learning is the only way to gain motivation and confidence to tackle the problems.

Tutoring Approach:

the role of a mentor is beyond explaining the course material (that's what you can get from a book or even better, Youtube!). It is about making the mentees believe that they can get the job done. It's about giving confidence, motivation, understanding, and highlighting the priorities.

In a nutshell, Mentoring science and mathematics is to show how to think.

That's why I usually spend less than %40 of tutoring sessions reviewing materials and the rest for hands-on problem solving
