Personal Description:

Hi! My name is Lauren , and I am finishing my bachelors in Biology in April. I have an extensive knowledge of biology and biochemistry, including lab based skills and lab report writing. I think that science can be really accessible to everyone if explained correctly, and that with hard work we can achieve your goals together! In addition to my science background, I have taken and excelled at many courses in university, including those that are communication based, like in the humanities. Currently, I am in the process of applying to Law school, and have already completed my LSAT. If you have any questions feel free to contact me!

Tutoring Experience:

I was a grading TA for a first year biotechnology course at my university, but I have also helped to proctor exams. I provide a lot of feedback when grading and would love to help edit your lab reports, assignments and papers.

Tutoring Approach:

Science-
When I was in biochemistry classes, I thought it was impossible to memorize all they expected us to! It took me a couple years of struggling to realize the best techniques for learning, memorizing, and writing reports for biology and biochemistry, and I'm so excited to share that information so you don't have to go through the same stress I did! Students learn in different ways, and the best approach is to first see how they like to learn and what is the best way for them to learn. From there I design lesson plans that best suit their needs.

English-
Struggling with english? The first step to identify what is keeping you from achieving your goals. In the first session we will discuss where you feel you are struggling, what is your preferred way to learn and how best to tailor tutoring to help you meet those goals. I also have read a wide variety of books, including common course selections such as: Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Lord of the Flies, 1984, A Tale of Two Cities, The Alchemist (a personal favourite), The Great Gatsby and more! I hope I can help foster a love for the english language in all my students, and give them the tools they need to continue to be successful in the future.
