Personal Description:

I am a recent graduate of Linguistics and Language Studies at York University's Glendon College in Toronto, Ontario. My studies were conducted in English, French, Italian and Persian. As such, I have spent extensive periods of time in Italy, where I have continued to cultivate my linguistic abilities in the language, and also in Paris, France, where I studied for a semester at La Sorbonne Paris IV. I have been accepted to pursue an MA in Linguistics at SOAS, University of London in London, UK, commencing September 2021.

Tutoring Experience:

In high school I had the opportunity to tutor elementary school students, helping them with all of their homework needs, specifically with reading and writing. In university, I often edit the academic writing of my peers and offer them help with preparing for our exams. I further worked with a Chinese online company called Qkids, with which I worked as an Online English Teacher for over a year.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is very simple: I dedicate my time to understanding my student in order to better adapt my teaching to their needs. I work best when following the structure of an external source (a textbook that covers the needs of the student) or when following their actual homework. Through some of my university courses regarding French second language teaching theory, I have learned how to apply a variety of teaching techniques to my classes. My focus will be on the needs of the student, but I always feel that by extending my students' vocabulary and constantly giving them the opportunities to apply it, they can achieve great things when learning a language. At least, that's how I've acquired French and Italian, and have begun to acquire Persian! :)
