Personal Description:

Hi, I’m Jade! I’m currently a grade 12 student in the IB (International Baccalaureate) program and attended the Sci-Tech program in middle school, so I can offer specialized tutoring for both programs. I’ve consistently scored 98% and above in math and 96% in English for the past three years, maintaining a 99% average in total last year. I have also received distinctions in numerous math contests and earned the Academic Award of Excellence in both math and English last year. I have a passion for teaching and I love to see students learn, improve, and gain the confidence they need to succeed!

Tutoring Experience:

I’ve worked at a math and reading tutoring centre for the past three years where I’ve assisted students between the ages of 3 and 16 with math and English reading/writing concepts. I have also had experience tutoring grade 4: reading & writing, grade 6: reading & writing, grade 8: math, 9: math, science, and geography; grade 10: math and history; and grade 11 math.

Tutoring Approach:

Tutoring online can be difficult, but I’ve discovered a few tricks that make it a bit easier on both ends! Sharing my screen with the student and using the screen as an online whiteboard helps them see all my steps so they can follow along easily! My general approach is outlined below:

1. Clear, concise explanations to make the most out of a limited timeframe
2. Use of real-life examples to help the student get a grasp of the concept and to learn practical applications of math
3. Lots of patience! Many students feel let-down if they don’t understand the concept right away, but that’s perfectly normal! Not everyone learns the same way, so I will do my best to ensure that the student is able to find a method that works for them. By being patient with the student, they will build more confidence in their abilities, helping them gain motivation to try even harder!
