Personal Description:

You can call me William. I am currently pursuing MSc in Mathematics and Statistics (Thesis) in McGill University. As a tutor having 4-year experience, I understand the learning obstacles one may meet at each stage of their academic studies. I am often commended to be considerate to students' feelings, especially when I try to help them getting through the upfront challenge. I am from Hong Kong, so I do not get the certificates in Canada, but I am willing to provide translation of my official results in examinations in case it is needed. Although my first language is not English, I am comfortable to teach in English. However, I cannot speak French.

Tutoring Experience:

I have tutored mathematics for 4 years, and this is my fifth year now. I was a tutor in my home university (where I study my undergraduate degree) in summer programmes designed for high school students. Moreover, I was a tutor for a year, to teach undergraduate year-1 student to adapt themselves from high-school mathematics to university mathematics. Having experience also in teaching physics and general science, I am sure that I can provide the best of myself every lesson to suit your need.

Tutoring Approach:

I am versatile in teaching method, but usually I cannot scold students, since I sincerely believe that they may make mistakes, but if they pay enough attention, and have interest towards the subject, they will get over all the challenges. I am good at generating examples to illustrate different knowledge points, and I can organise and summarise knowledge necessary in one unit. I could provide exercises, but I strongly prefer students getting their own exercises from their school, so that the materials will be the most suitable for their studies.
To conclude, I can usually adapt pedagogical style you would like, but please tell me directly for what you expect from me.
