Personal Description:

Hello Students!
My name is Heather and I am a qualified Ontario Teacher. I am interested and willing to teach/tutor online and therefore can be available for students around the province.

I have a specialty in Outdoor Education and love to apply all my knowledge to real-life situations and make learning relevant for all ages of my students. My undergraduate degree was in Social Development, which focuses on Child Development and learning, with courses on Assessment, Sociology and Education.

I am motivated and a positive and cheerful learner and love to share my learning with my students. I have taught students in the Primary grades, but get along well with teenagers and secondary/ college/university aged students as well. I hope I can help you with your studies and assist you on your learning journey!

Tutoring Experience:

I started my teaching in Brazil where I taught Gr. 4 at an international school. I taught in the Amazon, later, where I taught basic level English. I now teach in Ontario in Outdoor and Environmental Education, after graduating from Queen's University with my Bachelor of Education. I have taught in and out of the classroom in Ontario and love connecting with students where they are at in order to help them.

In the summer I help coordinate 2-week intensive high school science courses and so I interact a lot with high school aged students. I have taught English around the world and travelled extensively, always interested in learning new cultures and sharing mine. Currently I am also studying French and taking my Forest School Practitioner Course along with Additional Qualifications.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is simple. Help you! Mentor the student from where they are at and help them achieve and reach their goals through practice, creative approaches, flexibility and hard-work. I believe organization helps a lot and most importantly, learning about how you learn best. I believe in the multiple intelligences, that there are many ways to learn something and I intend to create the best avenue for you, the student.
